The second “movie” in the “Jurassic World Burgers” Japan-exclusive prequel trilogy to “Jurassic World Rebirth” is none other than “Delicious and Spicy Crunchy Juicy Chicken Burger”. Now playing at a McDonald’s Japan near you.

In case you missed it, check out my previous review for details about this exciting collaboration between Universal and McDonald’s, and my impression of the first installment of this prequel trilogy, “Thick Beef & Garlic Onion Beef Burger”.

The commercial for the second “movie” in this prequel trilogy features a Quetzalcoatlus landing behind a “Delicious and Spicy Crunchy Juicy Chicken Burger” combo set and squawking loudly. It appears to be very proud that it is associated with this burger.

In that scene, the fries and the drink are about twice the size of the burger. I appreciate the honest depiction, but it doesn’t make me want to buy it. I would expect a burger, that is inspired by the largest flying pterosaur of all time, to be much bigger. KFC’s very own Colonel Sanders would not be impressed (and neither am I).

Just as I was about to sit down, the John Williams “Jurassic Park” song started to play. I knew that the cinematic adventure of a lifetime was about to begin in my stomach.

This time I didn’t order a “Jurassic World Pineapple Melon McFizz”, like I did the first time. I didn’t want to waste my money on what is essentially a “Melon Fanta” with giant ice cubes taking up most of the space.

But for comparison purposes, I ordered another “Thick Beef & Garlic Onion Beef Burger”. If you want to know what I thought about that burger, check out my first review.

From above, the “Delicious and Spicy Crunchy Juicy Chicken Burger” was more “aesthetically pleasing” than the “Thick Beef & Garlic Onion Beef Burger”. As I mentioned in my first review, the buns are supposed to resemble the claw marks of a dinosaur.

It didn’t look so bad up close, either. Not as appetizing as the advertisement, but edible. Compared to the advertisement, it looks like someone forgot to put the lettuce on it. But they didn’t. It’s just smashed in along with the sweet lemon sauce (that white goo).

My first impression was “soggy” and “kind of stale”. With that stated, the burger’s name features four adjectives, so I will address them one at a time.

Was it spicy?
Hardly. The sogginess neutralizes most of the spiciness.

Was it crunchy?
Barely. The McDonald’s website claims that the burger features a “crispy batter”. But it was too soggy to be crunchy. It was more like the texture of a slightly stale fried chicken sandwich. The lettuce was also soggy and added no crunchiness whatsoever.

Was it juicy?
Yes. The greasy slice of fried chicken and the sweet lemon sauce are what made it so soggy.

Was it delicious?
Not “delicious” but not bad, either. Especially if you like greasy fried chicken sandwiches.

In my opinion, a fried chicken sandwich does not have to be crunchy or spicy to be considered “good”. What matters more is the quality of the fried chicken and the sauce used.

In the case of this burger, the slice of fried chicken tasted good (comparable to KFC quality), so no complaints. The sweet lemon sauce was just typical McDonald’s sauce, so not bad, either. The overall juiciness of the two combined seeped into the bread, adding flavor.

As for the size, the burger was small, but the fried chicken was thick enough to be enjoyed. It was thicker than the so-called “Thick Beef & Garlic Onion Beef Burger”. So if you need to choose one or the other, I’d recommend the “Delicious and Spicy Crunchy Juicy Chicken Burger”.

Now I understand why it’s...
QUETZALCOATLUS APPROVED.

As for what I thought about my second “Thick Beef & Garlic Onion Beef Burger”...

This second “Thick Beef & Garlic Onion Beef Burger” looked just as disgusting, if not, more disgusting than the first one.

The sloppy innards of this burger were not properly aligned between the buns this time around, so more was spilling off of it than the first time. So much of its innards spilled off that I was able to use it as dip for some of my fries. Yummy.

Oh, and the first time around I didn’t even notice the slice of cheese under that yellow goo.

As for my overall impression of my second “Thick Beef & Garlic Onion Beef Burger”, it was pretty much the same as the first time. The strong taste of the garlic onion beef glop and the yellow McDonald’s “special sauce” goo neutralizes whatever else might be in there. And it’s too small.

In conclusion, the second installment of the “Jurassic World Burgers” prequel trilogy has turned out to be better than the first. However, even after “watching” the first installment a second time around, I remain disappointed.

Being that I myself am a fake paleontologist who specializes in Spinosaurus Jokes, I am fascinated by the third installment of this exciting prequel trilogy to “Jurassic World Rebirth”. I plan on “watching” it as soon as my digestive system recovers from the “burger fatigue” of the first two “movies”.
