Happy 2023!

DJ Hadoken 7 has this to say:

Happy New Year 2023!

My tradition of recent years has been to ring in the New Year while listening to retro eurodisco and retro j-pop. Currently listening to Hi-NRG 80’s as I write this post.

Even though things are very much “under construction” around here, this website still gets some visitors, so I thought I’d post a New Years update on The Funk. If you are one of those people searching for “how to say Spinosaurus” I hope that you found what you were looking for from my last post.

I’ve decided to bring back all the “maintenance” or “technical” style posts as I call them. While going through backups of the old Funk posts I noticed that we made a lot of those before and was thinking about whether they’d be worth posting back up or not and decided to just go for it and start putting them back up.

Most people reading this post now won’t know what I’m talking about as most of the posts are nowhere to be found because I’m still in the middle of reposting things. Come back later and maybe you will notice a lot more posts under the “technical” tag.

So you guessed it. This is a “technical” post. Believe it or not I’ve been putting in a lot of hours on this website lately. “This website” now refers to two websites actually: riafunk.com and riafunk.blog. How it ended up on two domains instead of one is kind of related to this next part.

Most of the work on “this website” lately has been in the background. For example, this is sort of a transitional period for The Funk. There have been a lot of technical issues with the old web host over the years and it was finally time to move on to a new, more modernized one.

The Funk was the most straight-forward part of the RIA site to backup and transition. And so because riafunk.com was tied to the old web host, The Funk got moved first to its current home at riafunk.blog.

I realized just recently that The Funk (and the RIA site itself) is kind of back to where it started. The various web services that RIAfunk is currently utilizing are essentially the modern day equivalent of Geocities.

But instead of never having enough storage space, now we have to be careful about what we say.

Anyway, it’s just temporary for now.

Stay tuned.
